What are you reading right now?
God Is Not Good by Christopher Hutchins.
Do you have any idea what you’ll read when you’re done with that?
Eats Shoots and Leaves, I believe. I also need to finish Virgin.
What magazines do you have in your bathroom right now?
Real Simple, the Crate and Barrel catalogue.
What’s the worst thing you were ever forced to read?
I've come to appreciate most of the stuff I was "forced" to read, except I'm still bored by early American stuff.
What’s the one book you always recommend to just about everyone?
Night, by Elie Wiesel.
Admit it, the librarians at your library know you on a first name basis, don’t they?
They did when I was a girl, but now? The Barnes and Noble staff seem to recognize me...
Is there a book you absolutely
love, but for some reason, people never think it sounds interesting, or
maybe they read it and don’t like it at all?
Nope.
Do
you read books while you eat? While you bathe? While you watch movies
or TV? While you listen to music? While you’re on the computer? While
you’re having sex? While you’re driving?
yes, yes, no, yes, yes, no, no.
When you were little, did other children tease you about your reading habits?
Oh, yeah.
What’s the last thing you stayed up half the night reading because it was so good you couldn’t put it down?
Love and Other Impossible Pursuits, by Ayelet Waldman.
Where do you get recommendations for new books to read?
NPR, The New York Times, my lovely friends.
... but borders is!
I saw that they had this book on sale for 30% off-- new release and all. I hemmed and hawed, remembering that I had a 15% off coupon at home for B&N. However, I was looking for some instant payday gratification, and picked it up. I got to the register and I had $12 in Borders Bucks that I didn't even know about. Wow! I paid a grand total of $5 for the book. Now that's some shopping therapy-- that's kind on my wallet!
Hi, everyone! I'm sure you're on tenterhooks waiting for me to update. I've just been tired, what with rehearsing two shows and working.
Vanities is going very, very well-- far better than I thought it would. Kasmira, Julia and I get along famously. We've become quite the little trio. Lines are coming along-- this is the greatest amount of lines I've ever had, fully 1/3 of the script. Thankfully, it's very conversational, and mostly logical (poor Kasmira's last scene lines are full of non-sequitors, I really feel for her) which makes it far easier to memorize. Not that I can. :P Tech rehearsal on Saturday (since Sunday was Easter) ran really long-- eleven hours. There's a reason I don't venture outside of Falcon much-- I've never been to an eleven hour Falcon rehearsal. We open on Friday: if you're local, come see it! Here's the link on CinStages:

Midsummer is going well, as well, though I won't be going to a rehearsal for it until next week. It's funny and sweet and will end up being very good, I'm sure. I've started working on costumes, but thankfully I'll be able to do a LOT of the work at the theater itself, since we're renting some items from Costume Gallery. Plus, I'm already costumed and I have at least one other character costumed as well. Actually, come to think of it, I have two already costumed. Way to be ahead!
Work is going well as well. I'm slowly learning what it is I have to do. I had my first big meeting-led-by-me on Friday, which everyone said seemed "especially organized", etc. There are a few issues-- the company culture isn't terribly friendly-- but overall, I like it.
I'm hoping to get some more knitting and reading time in. I'm currently reading The Namesake, by Jhumpa Lahiri, after seeing the movie last weekend. I saw Grindhouse this weekend-- insert zombie Jesus jokes here-- and really enjoyed it, though I may have to make an entry about it and it alone.
Off to lunch with Fred!
What books are on your nightstand?
Pride and Prejudice and Kate Chopin's "The Awakening"
What's the nerdiest thing about you?
Everything is nerdy about me. I have way too much knowledge about Star Trek: The Next Generation due to being a real loser in elementary school. My books are arranged by type (Judaica, literature, cookbooks, you get the idea) and within those categories, by author. I've thought about doing the LOC system, but haven't gotten around to it yet. I'm a big grammar/word geek. I love Super Mario. I point and make baby noises at cute puppies and kittens. I can point out a fake handbag at 20 paces, and tell you WHY it's fake. I point out makeup brands at the movies, and sometimes I can even tell you the shade and product. I squeal over just about anything Steve Jobs says. Is that geeky enough?
